ABOUT US
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is touching millions of lives one heart at a time. Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.
To lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.
We will demonstrate Christ-like wholeness, privately, and publicly.
Proverbs 11:3
We will model Jesus’ example of serving.
John 13:1-17
We will express our unity in Christ in all our relationships.
Philippians 2:1-4
We will honor and glorify God in all we do.
Colossians 3:23-24
The first seed of FCA in Canada was sown in the summer of 2015 when a group of high school and college athletes from New Hampshire, led by FCA’s Phil Tuttle, participated in a week-long church outreach in conjunction with the 2015 Toronto Pan-American Games. Subsequently, in the late fall of 2015, Sean McNamara, the Regional Vice-President for the FCA Northeast, invited a small group of interested individuals to Buffalo for a discussion on what it might look like to begin a work in Canada in partnership with FCA International.
Following ongoing dialogue over the Winter and Spring of 2016, FCA International’s leadership, including Executive Director Dan Britton, Silas Mullis, Ken Williams and Andrew Evans met with the Canadian team of Bruce Gray, Ricky Piedrahita, Tim Tulloch and Ken Hastie on July 20-21, 2016, at which time FCA Canada was granted an International Sports Partnership agreement with FCA. With this agreement in place, FCA Canada sought and received Federal Not-for-Profit status on September 27, 2016. The initial governing board of Bruce, Ricky, Tim and Mario Giovane was created and then began the final process of securing full Charitable status which was granted on October 1, 2018. Thirteen months later, in November 2019, Hans Ostrem was installed as the initial Regional Vice-President and Executive Director.
